Back to the WebODE Performance Benchmark Suite
The results presented here were obtained in April 2004.
The execution environment were the benchmark suite was executed was the following:
- Hardware configuration. The main hardware configuration was the following:
- Processor: Pentium 4 monoprocessor, 2,4 Ghz.
- Memory: 256 Mb.
- Software configuration. The software configuration was the following, using each system's default configuration except for Oracle:
- Operating system: Windows 2000 Professional, Service Pack 4.
- Java platform: SUN Java 1.4.2_03 (The benchmarks were compiled with the default options).
- Database management system: Oracle version 8.1.7.0.0. The Oracle instance's memory configuration was changed to:
- Shared pool: 30 Mb.
- Buffer cache: 80 Mb.
- Large pool: 600 Kb.
- Java pool: 32 Kb.
- Application server: Minerva version 1 build 4.
- WebODE: version 2 build 8.
- Computer's load. In order to avoid non-controlled variables that affected the results, this load was the corresponding to the computer just powered on, with neither network nor user interaction, and with just the programs and services needed to run the benchmarks.
- WebODE's load. It is the underlying database's load where WebODE ontologies are stored. The generation of this load is explained here.
Execution of the benchmark suite
Each benchmark has been run several times with increasing load factors (X= 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500, and 5000) and with a number of iterations (N) of 400.
Results
These are the raw results obtained after executing the benchmark suite, along
with the statistical values and the graphs generated from them. These results
are organized by load factor.
To study WebODE's load effect in performance, we analyse the medians of the
execution times of the methods from the minimum load state (X=500) to the maximum
load state (X=5000). These are the statistical values and the graphs generated.
